Year 4 Class

Welcome to Year 4

Year 4 is made up of two classes: Maple and Birch.

Mrs Ripley teaches Maple Class and Miss Kellett teaches Birch Class.

We also have five fantastic teaching assistants: Miss Dobson and Mr Hindle who work across both classes, whilst Mrs Dent works in Maple Class and Miss Prior work in Birch Class.

Mrs Ripley: jmeasures@seamerirton.n-yorks.sch.uk

PE

In Year 4, both classes have PE on a Friday.

Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school all week.

Both classes also receive swimming lessons during the autumn/spring term.

Homework

Homework is given out at the start of each term. The homework tasks are stuck in children’s homework books and published on the website, below. Children can bring homework in or parents can email it to the class teacher when it is completed. This will go on the homework display at school.

Reading

We are a reading school and actively encourage reading throughout the week. As well as the reading pupils enjoy at school, we would also like children to read to an adult at home at least three times per week.

Spellings

Spelling lists can be found in your child’s homework book as well as in the Spelling Box below. These are published each half term. Children are split across the year group into groups for their spellings. They should learn all of their spellings and explore the spelling patterns set as part of their homework. Spelling tests will take place every Monday.
