Curriculum - Computing
Computing
At Seamer and Irton CP school, we want our pupils to become confident and competent users of a range of computing technologies. Our intention is that computing supports children’s creativity, resilience, critical thinking skills and cross-curricular learning so children are engaged, and their experiences enriched.
The curriculum is constructed to offer a high-quality teaching and learning experience based on the acquisition of key knowledge and computing skills across the school. Based on a spiral curriculum, knowledge is progressive and computing skills sequential with pupils revisiting themes and consolidating on prior learning throughout. Pupils will be engaged, as projects are purposeful and demand an outcome. Learning is scaffolded so that all pupils can succeed and thrive. Alongside the Teach Computing Curriculum used by Seamer and Irton CP school, there is a progressive key computer skills program that highlights skills that must be covered in each year group.
Learners will be aware of responsible internet usage and how to keep themselves safe online with additional elements of online safety taught within the PSHE framework.
By the time our pupils leave Seamer and Irton, we want them to be flexible, creative, responsible, and confident users of technology, who can choose the best tool to fulfil a task.
