Year 5 Class
Welcome to Year 5
Year 5 is made up of two classes: Elder and Oak.
Mr Reed teaches Elder Class and Mrs Chaplin and Mrs Hoggarth teach Oak Class.
We also have three fantastic teaching assistants in the year 5 team: Miss Hindle and Mrs Dent work across both year 5 classes, whilst Mrs Rees is based in Oak Class.

PE |
In Elder Class PE is taught each Thursday.
In Oak Class PE is taught each Friday.
However, please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school all week. |
Homework |
Homework is set each Thursday to be handed in the following Thursday. The termly homework sheets are stuck into children’s homework books, but they can also be found in the Homework Box below. |
Reading |
We are a reading school and actively encourage reading throughout the week. As well as the reading pupils enjoy at school, we would also like children to read to an adult at home at least three times per week. This is checked weekly on a Friday in their reading record. It is helpful if parents could please sign reading records after each time your child reads at home. |
Spellings |
Spelling lists can be found in the small red spelling books as well as in the Spelling Box below. Children should learn all 10 spellings and explore the spelling pattern set as part of the homework. Spelling tests will take place every Friday where children will be tested on the 10 spellings from their list. |
